Important weekly information
Newsletters
There are many ways that I will communicate with families this year. I might share information through a paper note, a phone call, an email, through our weekly newsletters, or the Class Dojo app. The newsletters include a summary of our week, as well as highlight important information and upcoming events. Please be sure to look for these newsletters that come home on Fridays.
FIRST BOOKS
These books are sent home on Mondays and should be read throughout the week. Please fill out the reading log each week and return the books on Monday of the following week. This program will start in January
Weekly Specials
PE (with Mrs. Rader)
We have PE every day. Please provide your child with a pair of PE shoes to wear each day.
Library (with Mrs. Story)
Library books will be checked out on Thursday. Please enjoy your child's book selection for the week and return it before the next Thursday. This will ensure they can check out the next time they go to the Library.
Music (with Mr. Sulzburger)
Students are able to attend music on Tuesdays
Drama (with Mr. Tallon )
First graders will experiment with dramatic play for a half hour on Thursdays
Art (with Mrs. Strode)
Our class has art on Mondays
Technology/Makerspace (with Mrs. Davenport)
Students enjoy these two subjects on Wednesdays
Specials will rotate every Friday.
Snack
Please provide a healthy snack for your child each day. This could be a cereal bar, fresh fruit, cheese, crackers, or homemade muffins, just to name a few wise selections. Please be mindful that the snack should be a healthy choice that will nourish the child and help them stay focused during our work time. Items such as fruit snacks, fruit roll ups and pudding are examples of items that are very high in sugar and can make it difficult for students to focus and feel full. Finally, students should be able to open and eat their snack independently.
Lunch Time
If you would like to join your child for lunch our scheduled lunch time is from 11:05 - 11:35.
