All About Mrs. Barke
Thank you so much for stopping by my site and finding out more about me. I am originally from St. Charles, IL and I still love the Chicagoland area. I attended Illinois State University where I completed my bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 2004. After graduation I taught first grade for two years in Bellwood, IL. I moved back down to Bloomington-Normal in the summer of 2006 and taught at Irving Elementary School in District 87 until I moved to Metcalf in 2012. I received my master’s degree in Reading from Illinois State University in May of 2009 and my National Board Certification in November of 2010 and 2020.
I enjoy playing many sports and running outside. Additionally, I love to cook and learning
about new things. I have two daughters. Eva is 10 and Paige is 8. It is so exciting to watch both of our ladies grow and change!
My teaching philosophy
I believe that it is important to create an environment where every student is able to experience success everyday. I also think that it is equally important to create lessons for students where they are engaged and motivated to learn. I will do my best everyday to make sure that every child’s needs are met and each student reaches their fullest potential.
